In October 2026, RES welcomed Mid and East Antrim Borough Council's decision to consent our Ballyross battery energy storage system (BESS) proposal, located on land approximately 2km southwest of Gleno and 8.5km southwest of Larne, Co. Projects like Ballyross BESS are vital to support the delivery of a reliable and resilient decarbonised electricity system for the future. They help to balance the electricity system at a lower cost by maximising the output of variable generation as well as minimising both network upgrades and the need for new infrastructure.
